Questions Frequently Asked About Reflexology

Why the feet?

As you can see from the illustration, the feet are a perfect mini-map of
the whole body. All the organs, glands and body parts represented in the
foot are laid out in the same arrangement as in the body.

There are also some important biological and anatomical reasons for working with the feet. They are furthest from the heart, where circulation tends to stagnate. People with chronically poor circulation often have tender or swollen hands or feet. It is good to stimulate and encourage blood flow to these extremities.
What's more, gravity pulls toxins downward. Inorganic waste materials such as uric acid and calcium crystals can build up in the soles. An experienced reflexologist can actually feel these deposits with their hands and break up the crystals with reflexology techniques.

What happens during a reflexology treatment?

You will lie on a special reflexology couch which raises your feet and enables you to feel comfortable and relaxed whilst your treatment is being carried out.
During your treatment I will use only my hands to apply gentle pressure to the feet. For each person the application of the therapy is unique.

How will I feel afterwards?

After the first treatment your body may respond in a very definite way. You may have a feeling of comfort and relaxation, or you may feel lethargic and have other minor reactions, but this is transitory and in fact is proving that the treatment is working.
Over time, with further treatments, your general feeling of wellbeing will improve.
